Investing in Women, Now More than Ever

COVID 19 is a global crisis, a health crisis, and an equality crisis. Poor and underserved communities are suffering the most. Women and girls around the world will bear the brunt of additional care needs for children who are out of school, and elderly and sick family members who can't get care from overrun health systems. Women-led businesses are often small and have limited reserves and access to capital, so they are the first to fail during shutdowns and economic crises. 

However, COVID does not need to be a story of women as victims. Women are the best positioned to protect their families, and to implement  lifesaving prevention methods like hand-washing and distancing. Women are working on the front lines of this crisis as caregivers, healthcare professionals, and essential workers.

Like women around the world, Prosperity Catalyst is working on the front lines of this crisis. In Haiti, we are supporting women to produce reusable face masks and hand sanitizer, and we're providing the families in our artisan and beekeeping network with the vital tools and information to practice safe hygiene and social distancing. In Iraq, we're working with local partners to disseminate up-to-the minute information about preventing COVID, while adapting our vital business trainings to an online format.
