After decades of conducting CHamorro dance, language and cultural workshops, Kutturan Chamoru Foundation launched the "1st Annual Ta Fan Apåtte CHamoru Immersion Camp - Let's Share" on August 4-6, 2015 at California State University, Long Beach. Ta Fan Apåtte CHamoru Immersion Camp, the first of its kind in the Continental US, welcomes participant ages 13 years of age and up. The Immersion Camp includes accommodations and meals for 3 days and 2 nights at the California State University Long Beach (CSULB) or the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) dorms and dining hall. This year, UCLA is the official location!
The goals of Ta Fan Apåtte CHamoru Immersion Camp are for participants to gain insight on the CHamorro culture, while developing an appreciation for the traditions, language and preservation of their native heritage. Participants gain self-identity and leadership skills to better prepare them for high school, college, career, and community service.
For 3 decades, the Kutturan Chamoru Foundation has relied solely on volunteering efforts to continue to provide “tuition free” education in CHamorro cultural dance, song, language and career guidance. KCF has developed 4 generations of cultural practitioners and volunteers to continue to bridge the thousands of miles between our island home in the Mariånas and our home in Long Beach, Southern California.
Support our efforts to continue to grow and give back to our community representing our CHamorro Pacific Islander heritage in Micronesia for many generations to come.
