The $30,000 grant will help us cover the final training and placement training costs of 2 of our service dogs.
Even a $5 donation from you will help us move towards that goal!
DONATIONS, TO BE COUNTED, MUST BE MADE ONLY THROUGH THIS PLATFORM , CHOSEN BY THE GANNETT FOUNDATION.
Putnam Service Dogs is a 4 year old (as of October 2020), 501(c)3 Platinum Guidestar organization. We provide free service dogs and follow-up training to people with physical disabilities other than blindness.
The last part of our service dogs' training - their Formal Training, is expensive because of the # of hours required to train the dog to perform effectively. Once the dog graduates, and is placed with their matched recipient, we need to train the recipient and dog how to work together. Without the additional In-Home training, they won't function as an effective service dog team.
During our service dogs' Formal Training, the dog's obedience skills are honed to an exceptional level. They are also taught the service dog tasks required by their recipient. Each dog is usually trained one hour+/day, for 4-6 months during Formal Training. Once a graduated service dog is placed with his matched recipient , we train the team for 2-3 hrs/day, 2-3 weeks so they can work together effectively. Our Trainers continue training the team weekly for another 3-6 months. Formal Training can exceed $10,000, and Placement Training can exceed $5,000.
We hope you'll support our 4th Birthday Campaign to raise $3,000. Please help us make a Heart Smile! Please help us change lives - 1 dog at a time.
