Local communities can solve local problems. But if the community isn’t united, how can we even address the issues, let alone solve them? The answer is found in grassroots efforts and programs, such as the Rainbow Support Group SC. Established in 2013 to address a dire local problem of discrimination and abuse to the LGBTQ+ young adult community, the Rainbow Support Group SC (RSGSC) has grown to serve a larger population, with more services, and regional, national, and international outreach. The growth is there because the need for support, services, safety, and acceptance is still necessary. Eighty-five percent of your donation / funding / contribution will go towards direct services. This includes developing new services while expanding our existing services, such as educational opportunities, communications campaigns, awareness events, referrals to treatment, and community collaborations such as Operation Elf in January to feed the homeless, Project Backpack in fall to contribute to children’s back-to-school needs, and Operation Santa’s Sleigh to support children in need over the holidays. The remaining fifteen percent of your contribution goes towards the standard indirect costs that non-profit organizations need to maintain operations, such as supplies, technology needs and staffing. Your support contributes to a solution much larger than helping us in helping local communities solve local problems. Together, by bringing more awareness, acceptance, and services to the LGBTQ+ community, our efforts also create a positive impact in the world.
