This #GivingTuesday, Inclusive Development International is raising funds for our longtime partner, the Philippine Movement for Climate Justice (PMCJ)

PMCJ, a coalition of 150 national networks and local organizations, is unique in the depth of its commitment to both grassroots, community-based organizing and broader national and international policy advocacy. The group is working on all fronts to advance climate justice as a solution to the climate crisis

Our work with PMCJ began in 2017, when we filed a joint complaint  to the Compliance Advisor Ombudsman at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), challenging the IFC’s support for 19 new and expanded coal-fired power plants in the Philippines—and their devastating contributions to global warming, environmental contamination and serious health impacts for local communities.

The groundbreaking complaint prompted the Ombudsman’s first-ever investigation into IFC’s contributions to climate change, and it resulted in a powerful set of recommendations calling on IFC to remedy harms to local communities, mitigate of the climate impacts of the coal plants, and institute systemic reforms to prevent similar harms in the future. PMCJ has played and continues to play a central role in ensuring these recommendations are fully implemented, with input from and reflecting the needs of the impacted communities.

Partnerships with organizations like PMCJ are invaluable to Inclusive Development International’s work and impact.

In the spirit of shared humanity and radical generosity that is the foundation for the #GivingTuesday movement, we hope you will take this opportunity to donate and support PMCJ’s work on the frontlines of the fight for human rights and climate justice.
