Georgetown University Students Come Learn about Campus Kitchen DC

Update posted 5 years ago

Thank you to all of our friends who have given to the Raise the Dough effort in the last 36 hours. We are well on our way to meeting this year's fundraising goal. This morning we were excited to welcome to the kitchen three Georgetown University students who run Hoya Hub, a program that addresses food insecurity for students, staff, and faculty at Georgetown. They visited Campus Kitchen DC to learn how they could expand their program at Georgetown University to possibly include a Campus Kitchen component. Chef Anthony enlisted their help in asking you to help CKDC Raise the Dough, (and they, in turn, showed him how to craft a bomerang video!). We are always so happy to team up with college students for our work serving more than 4,000 meals monthly to DC residents who are food insecure. Won't you join the effort? The Sooner the Breader!

From February 15-22, the Campus Kitchen DC, a food ministry of National United Methodist Church, competes against Campus Kitchens at other institutions across the country in the annual Raise the Dough Challenge.  Over the past seven years, our Campus Kitchen program has expanded and now serves 4,900 meals a month to five community meal sites, two shelters, and twice monthly Grate Patrol program with the Salvation Army. Your support helps Campus Kitchen DC continue to recover food from Mom's Organic Markets in DC and Virginia, and with the critical assistance of Food Rescue US app, from Palantir Technologies in Georgetown, and Sidwell Friends School and Horace Mann Elementary in DC. In the past year we have welcomed volunteers from the congregation, community, and from universities such as American University, Georgetown University, and later this year, a spring break alternative program from Georgia State University!

Please consider helping us to support our local community!

You can help by:

  • Donating $5 or any desired amount
  • Sharing this with friends via social media
  • Asking three friends to commit a $10 donation each (The school with the highest number of donors will win $750!)

Your support is greatly appreciated!
