"Our obligation is to give meaning to life and in doing so to overcome the passive, indifferent life." Elie Wiesel. I have had the opportunity and privilege to be a part of the North Peninsula Jewish Teen Foundation (NPJTF) for two years. As a member of the leadership council in my second year, I have been able to mentor four awesome and intelligent Jewish teens! Our mission statement touches on many very important topics, mainly the environment.
- 27,000 trees are cut down each day for toilet paper
- Over 1 million sea creatures are killed because of the plastic in the ocean
- 50,000 species inhabiting tropical forests become extinct annually, which yields to an average of 137 species daily
- Rainforests are cut down at 100 acres per minute
