Northern Nevada HOPES is a lifeline for our LGBTQ+ friends here in northern Nevada and the Sierra.

As part of Give OUT, a month-long fundraising campaign, I’m proudly raising money for HOPES, an organization whose vision is to build a healthier community for all. Many people are feeling stressed like never before and are seeking safe and supportive spaces. HOPES is that place.

HOPES was one of the first places I volunteered when I moved to Reno. In a tiny little waiting room I would do whatever they needed. Sweep the parking lot, stack bread, make flyers ... whatever. Over the years, I have referred people to HOPES countless times for primary care,  GAC services or behavioral health. I have also answered personal calls at all hours of the night for people looking for STI/HIV testing. I have sat with many friends as they received unexpected and sometimes expected news at HOPES. 

HOPES is trying to raise $50,000 to continue serving the LGBTQ+ community and providing life-changing services. Every dollar will be matched by the Barry Frank Family too!

As a dedicated ally of the LGBTQ+ community, I am passionate about creating a healthier, equitable, and inclusive environment where everyone can access the healthcare they need.
