2020 proved to be a challenging year worldwide

As government shutdowns forced schools in Uganda to inconsistently close and reopen, we have had to stay flexible. The unpredictability has lasted into 2021, as we have been faced with both sudden closures as well as the addition of an extra semester.

The good news?

All of our students we support through Let’s Send These Kids to School returned in January 2021 and were able to complete their spring terms. This includes our university students as well as our high schoolers.

The not so good news?

The addition of an extra summer semester fell through as covid-19 numbers rose and another shutdown was instituted. Universities allowed the funds we had paid to be reapplied to the students' Fall semester. High schools did not. Fortunately our mission's largest expenditure is the university tuitions. Yet there is great disappointment for the loss of any of our hard-earned funds.

The hopeful news?

Schools have reopened in Uganda for the Fall

Our three university students have been back since September. Thanks to the generosity of those who have contributed to this campaign to date, we are very close to what we need for the remaining seven high school students.  And when we reach our $10,000 goal, we will be well on our way to having the tuitions needed for the January 2022 Spring terms!

We are a small nonprofit but thanks to your continued support, Let’s Send These Kids to School has been consistently growing  during its five year existence as a 501(C)3 IRS recognized charity. We started with one student, then four, and in total have helped, and are actively helping, 15 young adults.

Please donate here, or on our website LSTKTS.org , and help preserve the interests and investments of the students we have made to date.

We are very small for now, and take a personal interest in the well being of each individual student, meeting their needs at various levels of education, high school, trade school, or college. We operated last year with a  budget of approximately $15,000 . High school tuitions range from $150 - $300 a semester, while university educations (with room and board) can be $500-$900 a semester. I estimate each semester to cost Let’s Send These Kids to School approximately $7000 in total.

Your help is greatly appreciated!

Sincerely,
Richard Nesbit, president/founder
