Greetings Folks,

This year I’m biking Ragbrai for the first time! After riding 105 miles in the desert for JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund) a couple of years ago, I’m inspired to continue challenging myself and riding for a worthy cause. Speaking of which, this time I’m biking with TEAM ALMA, riding to end domestic violence and create peaceful change.

RAGBRAI is an annual bike ride across the state of Iowa all within one week’s time. That’s 400+ miles in 7 days! I’ll be spending my time with 9 other TEAM ALMA riders as well as almost 15,000 Ragbrai riders, camping in the fields of Iowa each night, carelessly eating pie in the hot heat, and getting very up close and personal with some serious head winds.

Why am I riding?

I ride to build stronger relationships with Alma Center staff and their supporters and demonstrate to would-be supporters my commitment to the good work Alma Center staff do every day.

Father Greg Boyle of Homeboy Industries, an organization based in California, says that "nothing stops a bullet like healing."  I believe that to be true.  And so does Alma Center. The people helping young men returning from prison to the most dangerous and disadvantaged places in Milwaukee can't hope to help them change their lives until we help them bind up their wounds. Alma Center is taking part in the binding of these wounds. By supporting Alma Center, you’re contributing to this work.

Alma Center staff is currently taking part in a reentry project for young men in Milwaukee who are returning to Milwaukee from prison and carry with them the wounds of trauma from their homes, the streets, and our prisons.

I ask you to help further this work and support the Alma Center. Please donate today. Any and every contribution you’re able to make, is greatly appreciated.

With gratitude,

William
