Born in inner-city Cleveland, OH, I used my challenging circumstances to achieve and excel. Surrounded by an alcoholic father and negative influences, my path much like that of my siblings, pointed to a life as a factory worker. Then entered middle school math teacher Robert Vaughn and social studies teacher Helen Wade, who would pass me off to high school teacher Mary Spann. Mr. Vaughn recommended me for a summer enrichment program for high achieving inner-city youngsters at Oberlin College. With the support of Mrs. Spann and Mrs. Wade, I would participate in similar enrichment programs at John Carrol University, University School and Case-Western Reserve during the summers through my senior year in high school. The experiences formed me, equipping me with the fuel to propel myself along an impressive journey of personal and professional success.
Circumstances would no longer dictate my future.
With an emphasis on preparing the boys we serve for careers requiring a strong foundation in math, critical thinking, strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively, we're paying it forward through BOSS. Together with a team of high-achieving professionals, we're shaping the next generation of youngsters, inspiring, equipping and empowering them to be transformed through mastery of our foundational pillars (Economic, Emotional, Mental, Physical, Social, Spiritually BOSS) and Good to Great principles (No Excuses, Go the Extra Mile, Be Willing To Accept Change, Have a High Willingness to be Teachable and Coachable, Develop a Moral Compass, etc.).
Circumstances will not dictate their future.
