A nonprofit fundraiser supporting
Comunidades Unidas$820
raised by 9 people
$1,000 goal
We are participating in the Utah Minority Bar Association’s (UMBA) fifth annual charity competition. For the last four years, firms including ours, have helped UMBA raise an average of $25,000 for a local non-profit organization. Last year's fundraiser raised $40,000 for the Rocky Mountain Innocence Center. This made a huge impact for them. We would like to raise $40,000 again for Comunidades Unidas/Communities United.
This is an online fundraiser. Please help our team meet its fundraising goal by going to https://www.mightycause.com/team/Umbaforcuand donating! The fundraiser will conclude on June 15 at 5:30 p.m. MST. UMBA will have it's Juneteenth event on June 21st to celebrate and recognize the winners of the competition.
There are 2 ways you can donate to the firm fund:
1.Go to https://www.mightycause.com/team/Umbaforcu. On the leaderboard page, to the right of each organization, you will see a box with an arrow. Find our firm and click on that. It will take you to our individual firm page for this fundraiser and you can donate from there. Also, when you get to our firm page, there is a URL that can be shared with anyone.
2.At the bottom of the leaderboard page, there is a "donate" button. You will see a drop down box. That drop down box lists all the participants. Select our firm and you can donate from there.
Below is a message from Luis Garza, Executive Director of CU, explaining what these funds would be used for:
The mission of Comunidades Unidas / Communities United (CU) is to empower Latinos to recognize and achieve their own potential, and be a positive force for change in the larger community. Founded in 1999 by a group of Latina women, CU is now at the forefront of the immigrant rights movement in the state of Utah and currently provides direct services to more than 5,000 individuals per year. Our vision is that every Latino in Utah is healthy, self-sufficient, and an engaged member of the community.
We are seeking support to create a central emergency response system for immigrant families in Utah. This fundraiser would provide critical resources to create a more centralized, modern, and innovative consultation and referral system and “hotline” that will facilitate collaboration among service providers who work on the front lines to help immigrants and refugees with immigration-related legal and social needs.
Funds raised will allow us to:
- Support families in extreme need for social support such as food, shelter, clothing, etc.
- Provide financial assistance for legal representation to families in need
- Support our collective hotline services that allow us to assess families' needs and connect them with appropriate resources
