2021 has been another tough year for everyone. As everyone knows, prices in all areas are rising and the veterinary field is no exception. It takes more to spay and neuter pets and strays and for those who are already having a hard time affording the necessary procedure, rising costs are now making it more difficult to spay/neuter. Who pays the price if a pet owner can't afford to alter their dog or cat? The animal, of course. The obvious result of unaltered pets is unplanned litters. More dogs and cats to add to the already problematic homeless pet population. Less obvious is the health issues that arise from unaltered pets-going in and out of heat, aggressive behavior, testicular or mammary cancer, and pyometra- an infected uterus. These are issues that, in the long run, can cost the pet owner more than the price of a spay or neuter. Our Sponsor A Spay program receives more request for help than we can accommodate. We are striving to keep our certificate pricing low and not having to raise the cost by subsidizing what we reimburse participating veterinarians. We cannot donate certificates to pet owners in need or avoid raising our certificate pricing without donations from our supporters. Your donation will help us to assist pet owners who desperately want to spay/neuter but are finding it more financially difficult to do so. It will also enable us to reimburse our participating clinics more to address the rising costs that they are facing without having to raise our certificate prices. A donation to SpayGeorgia this Giving Tuesday will help us take the phrase "I am sorry but we are out of funding" out of our vocabulary for 2022. Your consideration of a tax-deductible donation to SpayGeorgia this Giving Tuesday is greatly appreciated.
