The Project Somos Children’s Village is a nurturing educational community for at-risk children in Guatemala. They provide Early Childhood Education, academic support, and nutritious food to give these kids a chance to end the cycle of poverty.

As an independent musician, I'm often surrounded by this financial scarcity conversation "I'm broke, woe's me" and it's easy to take my access to education and healthy food for granted. Volunteering in Guatemala reminds me that I'm wealthy beyond measure and have so much I can give. In Guatemala, education is not free. Families living in poverty cannot afford to send their children to school, and child labor is common. Project Somos aims to break the cycle of poverty through education and nutrition.

This place is dear to my heart- I went in 2021 with Antje Duvekot's group of volunteers and I will go back my birthday week in 2023 (Feb 19-26) to help onsite with another group, work in the gardens, play music with the children, and help in the kitchen and with various manual labor projects like repairing buildings. Please help me support this great project to break the cycle of poverty! I also plan on putting together a group of my friends, family, and fans to come back again this year.

My friends in Guatemala had to overcome tremendous challenges during the pandemic and beyond. Many children had to drop out of school and as a result, literacy is dropping to dangerously low levels. At Project Somos we support the local kids with organic food, and teachers who help them write and read and do their homework. We can ONLY do this with your support.
