Your donation helps cancer survivors remove barriers to their recovery and achieve a better quality of life long-term.

Oncology Yoga has been proven to improve quality of life, reduce side effects of cancer and its treatments, and support long-term health.  All cancer patients and survivors are recommended by the American Cancer Society to get up to 150 minutes of yoga (or other moderate exercise) per week. Sadly, only 30% of cancer survivors achieve that recommendation.

Nearly 70% of Cancer survivors are not achieving exercise guidelines and that impacts their survivability.

It is the mission of yoga4cancer to resolve that deficit and improve the quality of life and support long term survival rates for cancer patients and survivors.

We do that by:

  • Removing financial barriers to participate in yoga interventions.
  • Advocating for healthcare professionals to recommend yoga.
  • Training an army of educated and compassionate Oncology Yoga teachers.
  • Studying and sharing the mounting research that Oncology Yoga works.

Your contribution will help us remove barriers for cancer survivors to improve health outcomes. It’s a matter of life and death:

One of the worst side effects of cancer is financial toxicity.  Over 30% of cancer patients or survivors report major financial crises post-diagnosis including bankruptcy, loss of income or job, loss of assets or savings and beyond. This financial strain impacts getting the best healthcare and integrative support.  That can ultimately compromise long-term health and survivability.

We aim to remove financial barriers like the cost of yoga classes.  Often it's that first yoga class that provides the long-term support and motivation that is a matter of life and death. We want cancer patients and survivors to get the physical exercise that they require but we never want someone to choose between paying for medications or paying for yoga class.  Therefore, we offer FREE Oncology Yoga classes and resources.  We need your help to offer more and motivate more cancer survivors to achieve the Survivorship Guidelines of 150 minutes per week.

Your donation will help us continue to research and share the proven benefits of Oncology Yoga. Advocate for change and life.:

There is ample research suggests yoga interventions increase strength and flexibility; lower blood sugar and cholesterol levels; improve psychological well-being; lessen fatigue;  reduce anxiety and stress; and enhance the immune system.

Our organization has worked with oncologists, hospitals and researchers to develop the “gold standard” of Oncology Yoga and to develop protocols that can be replicated and studied to further enhance patient outcomes.  For yoga-interventions-for-cancer-patients-and-survivors-whitepaper-cover-tiltedexample, we published the white paper 'Yoga Interventions for Cancer Patients and Survivors' in 2018 and it has been helping to inform the medical and yoga community how to best provided Oncology Yoga interventions in their community. That was nearly 5 years ago and the volume of research has doubled.  With your contribution, we aim to update and distribute widely.  Together, we can advocate for change and improve the systemic way that cancer patients and survivors get safe and effective support.

How will the funds raised be used?

  • Provide FREE Oncology Yoga class
  • Funding research and advocacy projects
  • Fund scholarships for low-income & marginalized yoga professionals
  • Supporting our nearly 3,000 existing y4c teacher base so they can best support the cancer survivors in their community
