For more than 33 years, Mark Rogers dedicated his career to preserving one simple but powerful idea:

The people who built East Austin should be able to remain part of its future.

Under his leadership, Guadalupe Neighborhood Development Corporation (GNDC) preserved hundreds of affordable homes, pioneered Texas' first Community Land Trust homes, expanded affordable rental housing, and helped generations of East Austin families remain rooted in the neighborhood they helped build.

But Mark's greatest legacy is not measured in buildings.

It is measured in neighborhoods that remain communities.

As Mark retires and GNDC begins its next chapter, we are launching the Mark Rogers Legacy Fund to honor his extraordinary career while building permanent resources that will strengthen GNDC's mission for generations to come.

Our Vision

The vision of the Mark Rogers Legacy Fund is to build a $1 million permanent fund that will provide lasting support for GNDC's mission.

Affordable housing is generational work. Neighborhoods are preserved over decades, not years.

A permanent fund will strengthen GNDC's ability to preserve affordable housing, expand homeownership opportunities, respond to future challenges, and continue serving families with generational ties to East Austin for decades to come.

This is more than a tribute to one remarkable leader.

It is an investment in the next generation of neighborhood preservation.

Our First Milestone

Every enduring institution is built one generation at a time.

Our first goal is to raise $100,000 by October 2026 as the opening milestone toward our $1 million vision.

In October, GNDC will gather with residents, partners, supporters, and friends to celebrate Mark's extraordinary 33 years of leadership and the beginning of the organization's next chapter.

At that celebration, we hope to recognize the founding supporters who helped launch the Mark Rogers Legacy Fund.
