This holiday season, Cafe Feva is partnering with Food Lifeline, a local hunger relief organization serving Western Washington. Food Lifeline sources surplus food from manufacturers, grocery stores, farms, and other partners, distributing it to 300 food banks, meal programs, and shelters across 17 counties.
Last year, Food Lifeline helped provide over 73 million pounds of food, supporting 2.4 million individuals through 16 million visits to food programs. That’s 5 million more visits than the previous year, reflecting a growing need in our communities.
To help meet this rising demand, Food Lifeline has committed to a $2.5 million increase in food distribution this year through strategic purchasing and expanded partnerships with local retailers.
At the same time, recent federal legislation has reduced $360 million in annual SNAP funding for Washington to go into effect at the end of next year. That’s the equivalent of 360 fewer meals each year for a family of four. New work requirements have also limited eligibility for veterans, foster youth, and people experiencing homelessness. Altogether, more than 908,000 Washington residents rely on SNAP benefits to put food on the table.
Any amount you’re able to give helps Food Lifeline meet the growing need for access to food across our region.
Thank you!
