As a proud member of the Lucy Fernandez Foundation’s Executive Board, I’m helping lead this year’s Give Miami Day campaign in support of the Boating Safety Education, Advocacy, and Outreach Program. This statewide initiative is designed to save lives and strengthen a culture of safety on Florida’s waterways.

Your gift will help fund life-saving education programs, youth leadership development, and statewide advocacy initiatives that protect families, empower students, and promote responsible recreation. Private contributions raised through Give Miami Day will directly support the expansion of FLY HIGH, BIRD – HAVE FUN. BE SAFE., the Foundation’s signature program focused on prevention, education, and community engagement.

Funds will also help establish a professional training and operations hub that will serve as the Foundation’s base for statewide education and advocacy efforts. Designed as a flexible, mixed-use space, the hub will support programs such as the Boater Safety Summit, Jr. CREW CAMP, and the student-led bLU CREW initiative, while also hosting select trainings, meetings, and community events. It will become a dedicated space to expand outreach, strengthen partnerships, and further the Foundation’s mission to promote safety and stewardship on the water.
