The Lucy Fernandez Foundation was established in loving memory of Luciana Cristina “Lucy” Fernandez, a vibrant 17-year-old whose light continues to inspire others to live with faith, compassion, and purpose.

Rooted in Lucy’s values and spirit, the Foundation provides scholarships and experiential learning opportunities for students at Our Lady of Lourdes Academy, her beloved alma mater. Through the LOVE LIKE LUCY Scholarship, these opportunities carry forward her legacy of Faith, Kindness, Hope, and Love, empowering young women to lead with purpose and serve their communities.

The Foundation also advances boater and watercraft safety through its FLY HIGH, BIRD Initiative, a program dedicated to education, awareness, and advocacy. Following Lucy’s passing in a preventable boating accident on Labor Day Weekend 2022, our advocacy efforts helped lead to the passage of Lucy’s Law in 2025 and continue through active participation in the Miami-Dade Boater Safety and Bay Education Task Force—important steps toward saving lives and reshaping boating culture. Building on this foundation, the Foundation is working to expand its education and advocacy programs statewide, broadening its reach and deepening its impact on safety and responsibility across Florida’s waterways.
