We are MOONSHOES, a queer and BIPOC band creating dreamy, slow grooving harmonies and melodies! Come along this journey with us as we write music, host events, and raise money for camp!
Read a little bit about each member below:
- I’m Pita, one of band’s vocalists and bassists! As a recovering choir kid, I’ve been excited to collaborate with other musicians to use my voice in new ways and lean into mistakes. Playing and listening to music are life-sustaining practices for me and I am inspired by the work that NC Youth Rock does to make music exploration equitable and accessible for young people.
- I’m Sypha (ss-eye-fuh), the band’s electronic percussionist, bringing experimental beats and textures and excited to go on this sonic journey together with my bandmates. Outside the band, I’m a DJ and producer, and I’m looking forward to collaborating with other artists while raising money for youth rock.
- Hi! I’m huiyin 徽音 (they/ta/她), originally from dongguan, china. I’m into vocals and keyboard & am also supporting the band’s visuals. I’m excited to play, experiment, and organize fun fundraising events with my band mates. outside of the band, I work as a writer, photographer, curator, & cultural producer.
- I'm Daysha, one of the bass/keyboard players for the band. I'm very excited to play music again in a new and relaxed environment! I am looking forward to building connection with my bandmates, creating opportunities to share our experience together, and raise money to give access to youth seeking the same experience.
- I'm Cherub, a Durham based black performer, crafter, and artist. I'm excited to rock and to roll for summer campers.
