Doing my part to make Lancaster a funnier place. Saving the world one Waffle House joke at a time.

Hi, friends! I've been improvising regularly since 2016. Those of you who've known me long enough know just how important the practice of improv is in my own day-to-day life. Those of you who've had more than one beer with me have probably drifted out in the middle of my lecture on how the principles of improv (Listening! Courage! Teamwork!) could save the world. Those of you who've had two or more beers with me have probably said, "John, these Alamo Drafthouse tickets aren't cheap - please shut up, now."

I will not.

Improv is a pathway to being more present with others. It's a mindfulness meditation with sound and motion. It trains the mind to appreciate the gifts that others bring to the table, and helps remove our egos from the center of the cosmos.

And it's a hell of a lot of fun.

I've had the joy of engaging in my practice with the good folks at Lancaster Improv Players for the past year since my move to easter PA. They have a rock-solid educational program and a great roster of monthly shows at their tiny theatre on Prince St. in Lancaster. I'm happy to be part of the community and want to do my part to make sure it's there for years to come.

ExtraGive is an annual city-wide fundraiser for nonprofits in Lancaster. For 24 hours on Friday, November 21st, the fundraising portals are open to support the recipients of your choice. In addition to direct funds raised, each nonprofit also receives extra money from a shared pool. That bonus amount is determined not by funds raised, but by the number of unique individual donors to each organization.

So, here's what I'm asking for: Would 20 of my friends give at least $10 to Lancaster Improv Players on the 21st? You'll see above, I don't have a money goal. I'm looking to pump up that list of individual donors for the day. Could you be a part of that surge?

What do you get in return? My unending thanks and infinite brownie points.

AND

If you're local, and/or you don't mind a drive on a Friday night, your donation is your admission to LIP's annual MiniFest - six hours of local, artisanally crafted improv at Zoetropolis starting at 6PM on Friday 11/21. I'll be there hosting the 7PM hour, and you'll get to see some of the really funny people I get to work with.

So, come back to this lil' fundraising page on Friday, 11/21, and make your donation.

And thank you!
