The Problem: Inequitable Opportunities
Fauquier County is one of the wealthiest counties in the country. We are fortunate to have amazing neighbors, great schools and businesses, gorgeous scenery, and a thriving agricultural scene. Many people agree: Fauquier is a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family. But increasingly, large swaths of our population -- including lifelong Fauquier residents and their families -- are forced to leave due to the high housing costs in the area.
In 2025, the median household income in Fauquier is over $150,000 and the median home sale is over $600,000. But many folks in our region -- teachers, first responders, healthcare workers, and those in the service sector -- don't have incomes that match these home prices. In fact, over 70% of our county's workforce don't earn incomes that allow them to pursue the American dream of homeownership.
That's where we come in.
The Solution: Affordable Housing
Fauquier County builds homes that are priced for our workforce -- auto techs, hospital workers, small business owners, and our servicemen and women. Our homes are constructed with the understanding that everyone -- regardless of their background, income, or beliefs -- should have a safe, decent, and affordable place to live. Right now, we are completing work on the first phase of new homes on historic Haiti Street in Warrenton, Virginia -- and, with plans to build even more homes in the coming years, we're not slowing down. But in order to build these homes, we’re turning to you – our community – to step up to the plate.
