My 2026 NOLA to Angola Fundraiser!

NOLA to Angola is an annual bicycle ride + fundraiser that supports the efforts of organizations working to mitigate and reverse the impacts of the U.S. prison system. Biking each mile in solidarity with families who travel long distances to connect with their incarcerated loved ones, the ride educates people about the ways in which mass incarceration works in tandem with other systems of oppression to harm our communities. 

The Louisiana State Penitentiary, built on the grounds of a former slave plantation from which it gets its name, Angola, is in many ways emblematic of the centuries of (and ongoing) racial violence in the United States. After slavery was abolished, the plantation became a prison where mostly Black incarcerated people were forced to labor on the same land. The forced labor of the "Farm Line" continues to this day.

All funds raised will go to the Cornerstone Builders’ Bus Project, which provides free monthly transportation from New Orleans and Shreveport for families to visit loved ones incarcerated in Louisiana prisons.
