When we moved to Wisconsin, Gabriel and I applied for Medicaid. Our annual income was $1k over the limit to qualify. So we decided we'd take care of medical needs when we visited home (Colombia). Pandemic came, we could no longer travel home.

How is it that the richest country in the world allocates in its budget so little for healthcare to keep its people alive, yet has so much money for bombs that kill people abroad and for ICE and military police that kill people within?

I'm part of the Non-Violent Medicaid Army because there is a war against the poor, and we are organizing to fight it with dignity. I'm joining people that don't look like me, don't speak like me, don't live in a city like me - yet, we have the same stakes in this fight. And when we gather, strategize, mobilize, organize, we become a "new and unsettleting force" as MLK taught us.

Thank you for supporting this work. With your donation, I will attend a conference in the Caribbean this fall to learn from a healthcare system based on people's needs. We also use the funds to host people's clinics, go door to door in cities and small towns, amplify the voice of those impacted by the healthcare crisis (that probably includes you!), and much more.
