Washburn Girls/FMP win 2026 National Championship!
Washburn Ultimate was feeling proud to be one of only five schools showing up with two teams at Nationals, BUT these players did more than just "show up". They were locked in and ready to play. And ...
Washburn Girls/FMP are the new National champions! They won six in a row including defeating the #1 seed and the defending national champs, ending their season with a record of 34-0.
The Boys/Open team came in as the 11th seed, but they won tough games to finish 5th (going 4-2 with their only losses to the two finalists) and were the winner of the tournament Spirit award!
We could not be more proud of these incredible athletes and coaches!
The fundraising effort continues, though, as the expenses for this amazing experience come due in the coming days. Please help us cover these costs if you're able. See below for more information. Thanks so much!
If you missed it, you can watch the Girls Championship game!
Washburn Ultimate: Next stop – Nationals!
The Washburn Ultimate Girls and Varsity Boys ultimate teams (representing Washburn High School in Minneapolis, MN) were invited back to the High School National Invite after successful 2026 Minnesota spring seasons! Both teams competed on June 12th and 13th in Salem, Oregon, as one of the 16 best teams in each division across the country. And they came home as the TOP team in the country (girls) and the number 5 team in the country (boys).
Fuel Our Nationals Run
We're inviting you to be part of our community by cheering on the teams and also asking for your financial help. One challenge of Washburn's on-field success is that standard fundraising efforts are not enough to keep up with the expenses of out-state tournaments.
Our $22,000 fundraising goal for this tournament covers:
- Three nights of lodging for 45 players and coaches
- Tournament registration fees
- Meals and snacks for players and coaches
- Coach flights and scholarships for players' flights as needed
- Equipment rental
- Team vehicle rental
Put another way, the total is around $488 per player/coach, which is a goal we feel we can achieve given the strong support we've previously received from the community.
Special thanks to Two Men and a Truck, who have kicked off the fundraising campaign with a $2,000 donation. Please consider supporting them like they have kindly supported us.
For those of you that have already supported the team in any way financially, logistically, or on the sidelines, THANK YOU VERY MUCH for being part of the Washburn Ultimate community! Any investment in this year's Nationals opportunity for our teams is greatly appreciated.
