Donate today to support the Boys & Girls Clubs in Fulton County!
Boys & Girls Clubs across Atlanta are uniting for Great Futures Week 2021 - March 29 through April 2 - to showcase the potential of our young leaders and to highlight the vision our kids have for the future.
Young voices have power. Through Boys & Girls Club programs like Keystone Club and Youth of the Year, kids and teens are developing a passion for service and are leading in their schools, Clubs, and communities.
Thanks to your support, we see our Club members thriving in life and creating a brighter future for the world.
Joshua Woods
Club name: Jesse Draper Boys & Girls Club
“I call the Club my second home; it’s where I made my most positive relationships and it helped me come out of my shell.”
Joshua Woods, Youth of the Year at the Jesse Draper Club, started at the Club as a shy 8-year-old; he had experienced some bullying in elementary school, and was cautious about opening up at the Club. Soon, though, Joshua became more comfortable at Draper, a place where he could truly be himself and where he could find friendship and connection with his peers. During his time at the Club, Joshua has risen to become the Vice President of Keystone Club, a leadership Club for teens; in this role, he plans Club fundraisers and opportunities for community service.
Through the Club, Joshua attended his first college and career fair in the 5th grade, and learned about the different kinds of educational opportunities available to him after high school; Joshua’s goal is to become a biomedical engineer and to make prosthetic limbs for people who can’t otherwise afford them.
Joshua believes strongly in the power of teens, and social media, to be an advocate for change in the world, advocating and educating on topics like Black Lives Matter and racial equity.
