Georgia Audubon is the state's leading organization focused on conservation, education, and community engagement through the lens of birds. Since 1970, the U.S. has lost nearly 3 billion birds, a near 30% loss in just a single lifetime. The decline of birds signals a broader crisis in the natural world already echoed by global losses in insects, amphibians, and other wildlife. Our quality of life—the water we drink, the food we eat, and the beauty of natural landscapes that we enjoy—all depend on keeping our planet healthy. Through the support of its members across the state, Georgia Audubon is providing local, on-the-ground solutions to build places where birds and people thrive

Georgia Audubon serves the entire state of Georgia with populations that include all demographics and a focus on building equity, diversity, and inclusion. Our services take place through our programming in Education, Conservation, and Community Engagement including:

Education: Our education efforts work to create a diverse group of environmental stewards and professional educators by (1) collaborating with, educating, and equipping diverse communities to protect birds and connect with nature and (2) training educators and supporting schools to build the next generation of conservationists.

Conservation: We work to increase and protect bird populations and healthy habitats across Georgia by (1) partnering with a broad range of individuals, communities and organizations to preserve, restore, and connect bird habitat; (2) researching and monitoring bird populations throughout Georgia; and, (3) addressing causes of bird loss.

Community Engagement: We engage and collaborate with communities throughout the state of Georgia to connect people with birds by (1) sharing the wonder of birds and nature and (2) convening/collaborating with partners to amplify their voices and our impact.

Some of our programs and activities include conducting workshops, field trips, monthly speaker series, our annual Bird Fest, Project Safe Flight Georgia, Lights Out Georgia, Wildlife Sanctuary Certification program, nest box installations, shade-grown coffee program, school and homeschool programs, scholarships, Georgia Urban Ecologists program, and our unique Master Birder program.
