Who We Are

Kentucky Refugee Ministries (KRM) is a resettlement office and non-profit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive resettlement and support services to forcibly displaced populations arriving in Kentucky.

Established in Louisville in 1990, KRM has grown to meet the increased number of arriving families in need of critical support, expanding to include additional sub-offices in Lexington (est. 1999) and Covington/Northern Kentucky (est. 2021). KRM provides resettlement services to refugees through agency-based resources and staff; faith- and community-based co-sponsorships; a network of volunteers and supporters; and community partner organizations in order to promote self-sufficiency, successful integration into the community and a sense of belonging. KRM is committed to offering access to community resources and opportunities, reducing access barriers and to promoting awareness of diversity for the benefit of the whole community.

Our Vision

  • To compassionately welcome and serve the world’s displaced people.
  • To encourage the hope that lives within each human being by providing an atmosphere of hospitality, responsiveness, mutual respect, trust and tolerance.
  • To broaden cultural awareness throughout the community.
  • To provide opportunities of cultural expression, representation, and visibility of refugees and immigrants through arts & culture programming and events, as well as to increase access to global arts across a diverse range of neighborhoods.
  • To be known for our reliability, resourcefulness, partnerships and comprehensive services.

Together as a community, we resettle refugees and welcome immigrants. Through KRM, you encourage hope, advocate for newcomers, and transform the lives of those seeking safety.
