Since 1982, Southwest Center has been the heart of possibility for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Founded by parents who believed their children deserved every opportunity, SWC has grown into a vibrant community where people discover strengths, achieve goals, and live with dignity and joy.

Who We Are

Southwest Center is a private non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to providing community-based programs for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. SWC offers a variety of services, including day training, job training, residential services, transportation services, and community support services. 

SWC is the only organization within the Louisville area certified by the Kentucky Division of Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities to offer technology assisted residential services. 

In 2024, SWC was a recipient of the Better Business Bureau Torch Award for Ethics in the large non-profit category.
