Light Up Moore County

A very big THANK YOU to everyone who has donated to Light Up Moore County!! We have far exceeded our initial goal of $5,000 and are beyond thrilled.  All luminaires are out for delivery as of Sunday, 5/10 at 12:00 PM. Looking forward to Lighting Up Moore County together this evening at 8PM!

What is Light Up Moore County?

Many of us in Moore County are very fortunate that we are not worried about where our next meal will come from. Unfortunately, there are others in our county that do not have this luxury, including children. Light Up Moore County is a way for Moore County neighborhoods to come together and support children and families with limited access to meals.

When: Mother's Day, Sunday, May 10th

Why: Many children in Moore County depend on free meals at school. With schools closed for the academic year, getting those meals to children is a challenge. The Boys and Girls Club of the Sandhills has stepped up to fill the access gap by distributing free meals, including home delivery for those who cannot reach a meal distribution center. Breakfast and lunch are provided to any child under the age of 18. Dinners for families of four will also be distributed when available. Their additional cost to distribute meals is $1,500 per day.

How you can help: Donate a minimum of $20*. For every $20 you donate to provide meals to Moore County children, a luminary will be delivered to you on Saturday, May 9th or early Sunday, May 10th to display on your front porch/property on Mother's Day, May 10th in the evening.

EXTRA BONUS: Your impact will be DOUBLED. The Junior League of Moore County has committed to matching the first $2,500 we raise!

I ask that you please make a gift to help MOORE children when they need it most. Together on May 10th, we will Light Up Moore County neighborhoods in solidarity for those who are in need.
