Jean Capler's Solidarity Sleep Out for Shalom

A safe place to stay.   A roof over our heads.   Being seen, respected, and loved by our community.   These are the basics that we all need to even just survive.   A Friend's Place emergency shelter provides these basics for people who do not have that safe place to stay with a roof over their heads.   We know that our country and our state could put a lot more resources into the safety net so that if some unexpected calamity happens--loss of a job, an illness, a brain injury--we could keep people from ever losing that roof over their heads.   So while we work to create change in our country to create the safety net we all deserve, here is something YOU can do RIGHT NOW to help sustain the most basic of safety nets:  a safe place to stay.   On Friday, June 26th, I and a whole lot of others will be sleeping out in solidarity with people who currently have no homes.   Because of COVID19, we cannot sleep out together, so we will each be sleeping out in our back yards and connecting virtually.   This is your chance to make a real and tangible difference in the lives of people in poverty who are without a home.   Donate to this fundraiser, and all the dollars raised will go to keeping A Friend's Place emergency shelter open for all who need it.
