Shalom! Welcome to my page! As some of you may well know through my constant nagging, I've been apart of the Hamsa Fund- the East Bay's jewish teen philanthropy board- for three years. We continuously strive to pave the way for social action demonstrated by teens and set the precedent for others to follow. Through our annual fundraising campaigns, we have raised over $50,000, collectively, in just the two years since I've joined. It's an incredible journey to see a group of about 15 teens be able to engage in something so much bigger than ourselves and understand the importance of being involved. I can't wait to see what our future holds if we are able to be a part of something so inspiring at such a young age.
The 2019-2020 Hamsa Fund's mission is to improve access to education by funding organizations that promote equality and health for youth so that everyone has the same opportunity to succeed. Good, right?
This year, we are focused on providing a safe and equal opportunity for education that is otherwise restricted. We believe it is our duty to make the difference from our more fortunate circumstances. We believe that every teen should be able to have the same aspirations and goals, regardless of race, gender, or economic circumstances. It isn't just a mitzvah, it's a responsibility. At the end of the year, when we have calculated our totals collected through generous donors, like you, and public fundraising throughout the community, we research charitable nonprofits that align with this year's of mission of the pursuit of education.
We are seeking to find new methods of fundraising, such as restaurant partnerships and small-scale bake sales, yet the large majority of our end-of-the year totals come from people who can afford to do a mitzvah, a moral and kind gesture or deed. I am asking for you to reach in your pockets and donate anything you seem fit, from $18 - $360. Know that your money is going to something bigger than yourself, something worthwhile that will constitute a positive change in our community. To get my campaign up and running, I will donate $180 of my own money that I have earned through my minimum-wage job. I hope you will make a similar contribution of your own. Thank you for investing in my own personal growth, society's needs, and the future. Lehitraot!
