$500 goal
My involvement with The Grassroot Project (TGP) since 2015, TGP has offered much more than I ever expected. As I prep myself through the next few months, I am keeping the #1 priority at the forefront: my health. I will be running a race to raise money and awareness for TGP -- either a 10k or a marathon (depending on the number of donations). Help me in supporting this work and inspiring other college athletes to pursue positions of leadership in public health. Thank you!
About The Grassroot Project
The Grassroot Project (TGP) is a non-profit health promotion organization that recruits and trains NCAA student-athletes to serve as volunteer health educators in D.C. middle schools. TGP’s corps of college athlete volunteers deliver a three-year, 30-hour movement-based health education curriculum that covers the topics of nutritional health, mental health, and sexual health in DC’s highest-need middle schools. To date, The Grassroot Project has mobilized more than 1,500 NCAA Division I athletes from five universities to provide more than 60,000 hours of free health education programs for thousands of DC teenagers. The Grassroot Project’s programs have been recognized as an innovative and effective method for promoting health equity and inspiring teenagers to live healthy lives. The organization’s work has been recognized with local, national, and international honors from the Clinton Global Initiative, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the World Economic Forum.
