Mission
Based in NYC, NNLB is a collective of intergenerational, multidisciplinary, intersectional Black MaGes (marginalized genders) who are dedicated to Black liberation, direct reparations, abolition, and decriminalization of poverty. Â The goal of NNLB is to, educate, mentor, and organize to dismantle systemic oppression of marginalized communities.
NNLB United has received a Community Organizing Grant from the Peace Development Fund and all of the money raised from this fundraiser will be added to that grant to help support their organizing in 2021. Â Please consider making a contribution today to support them and read more about their work below.
Request
The NNLB collective is requesting funds for our work in supporting the most marginalized communities. Our programs include civics and political education, educating our communities, preparing them for informed dialogue with elected officials, and understanding the political process. We also have a food security program to support our community membersâ urgent-based requests who need food requests to sustain their familiesâ needs. We provide this support through direct funding and support from the NNLB collective and our fund base support. Lastly, we have a mentoring program where we support local organizersâ work across the state, whose works align with NNLBâs mission and we support them through our framework.
How is NNLB United helping their community work toward justice through the COVID-19 pandemic?
"A large part of our work has been fundraising in direct giving capacities for COVID-19 emergencies, providing safety for protestors and organizers through decarceral efforts as the current BLM climate intensifies, providing emergency rehousing for domestic violence victims, providing emergency rent relief for families at risk of losing their housing, and supplementing meals for food-insecure families whose children had previously received so at school."
