Grassroots Fundraiser for:

Alyssa Rodriguez Center for Gender Justice

Mission

The Alyssa Rodriguez Center for Gender Justice will work to build a movement led by a core group of jailhouse lawyers who are survivors of gender-based violence in U.S. state and federal prisons, as well as grassroots gender justice leaders who are not incarcerated to dismantle patriarchal oppression

The Alyssa Rodriguez Center for Gender Justice has received a Community Organizing Grant from the Peace Development Fund and all of the money raised from this fundraiser will be added to that grant to help support their organizing in 2022.  Give today to support the Center!

Request

Your support will help to fund: 1) Opportunities for inside and outside, as well as cis and trans, gender justice advocates to learn from one another, strategize, and collaborate to end gender-based violence 2) Self-advocacy materials and other resources to support the gender justice work of jailhouse lawyer survivors;  3) Organizing to shift power through fighting for changes to make it easier for jailhouse lawyers and grassroots leaders to participate politically.

Can you share a story of one of the leaders in your organization and how they’ve made a difference in their community?

Rayne Vylette, ARC Gender Justice core member and advisor, explains, "I do all my fighting with my pen and my voice. I've written and submitted work to many organizations and newsletters. I love hearing from other incarcerated people about how my writing reflects their experiences too. Right now most of my advocacy is around access to gender-affirming healthcare and pushing other young people inside to speak up and fight back. Helping further work like yours (at ARC) gives this experience (being locked up) worthwhile."

Alyssa Rodriguez Center for Gender Justice is a participant in Grassroots Funding Week, a week-long crowdfunding campaign that supports several social justice organizations from across the country.
