Grassroots Fundraiser for:

Fuerza Latina

Mission

Fuerza Latina is an organization of immigrants and allies dedicated to educating, informing, organizing, and promoting change to facilitate an improved quality of life for immigrants in our community.

Fuerza Latina has received a Community Organizing Grant from the Peace Development Fund and all of the money raised from this fundraiser will be added to that grant to help support their organizing in 2022.  Give today to support Fuerza Latina!

Request

Fuerza Latina will be using this funding to support the sustainability of two new community organizers of color who were hired this year, one in December 2021 and the other to begin work in January 2022. The team of organizers will be working together to focus on several different campaigns: school justice PSD, working to end police presence in the local school district, as well as working to build up our base of power amongst undocumented, unhoused, working-class community members for our mobile home park and tenant organizing. Our team of organizers will be working together to expand our base of movement buliding while supporting a healing justice staff because healing work can not see progress if that work is not done alongside addressing the inequities in the criminal legal system, economic reform, HIV/AIDS, transphobia, homophobia, racism, misogyny, reproductive justice, sexual assault, intimate partner violence, child sexual abuse and other issues that challenge the wellness of our BIPOC communities.

Can you share a story of one of the leaders in your organization and how they’ve made a difference in their community?

"One of the leaders of our organization is Jesus Castro, Jr. He is a DACA- recipient and community organizer that has been involved with FCCAN for over 10 years in the community. He has helped us to create an LGTBQ, Latinx caucus space and vigil for DACA receipts and young Latinx dreamers in our community, and has been actively involved in supporting youth leadership in our mobile home parks and in the immigrant and low income community of Fort Collins."
