Grassroots Fundraiser for:

Home Roots Foundation

Mission

Home Roots Foundation is a grassroots nonprofit organization on a mission to improve access to education and alleviate poverty across Haiti. We primarily focus on children, youth, and women. Our goal is to help build better and more livable communities.

Home Roots Foundation has received a Community Organizing Grant from the Peace Development Fund and all of the money raised from this fundraiser will be added to that grant to help support their organizing in 2022.  Give today to support Home Roots Foundation!

Request

Your support will help fund our organizing in remote Jean Rabel, Haiti and will expand into Kenscoff and the very remote Belle Fontaine. Women are marginalized, so in 2021, we worked hard to gain the confidence and trust of 12 women’s groups in Jean Rabel. Working with 1 elected woman official, we held workshops with topics ranging from agriculture to civics and implemented adult literacy classes. Our goal is to help the various groups better work together and form a coalition for impactful self-advocacy before City Hall. Your support will help us to provide them with consistent training and maintain a permanent presence to help them build a movement.

Can you share a story of one of the leaders in your organization and how they’ve made a difference in their community?

"Half of Haiti's population is under 25 and most wish to leave the country. Herold is a young Haitian who has chosen to remain in Haiti and work to improve his country and life for the people. He works as a representative for Home Roots Foundation (HRF). Herold loves being in the field and travels into neighborhoods to mobilize communities and introduce HRF to build relations and partnerships. His work has made him a young leader and an example of the many good possibilities for Haiti's future"
