Tight Lipped

Mission

Tight Lipped is a grassroots storytelling and advocacy organization by and for people with chronic vulvovaginal and pelvic pain. We fight for people with these conditions to be diagnosed correctly, treated effectively, and given compassionate care.

Tight Lipped has received a Community Organizing Grant from the Peace Development Fund and all of the money raised from this fundraiser will be added to that grant to help support their organizing in 2022.  Give today to support Tight Lipped!

Request

"Your support will help fund the launch of our first organizing campaign in 2022, and Tight Lipped will conduct background research, develop strategy, and build and engage a powerful team of new leaders. We will organize and facilitate community events focused on contextualizing people’s personal healthcare experiences within broader political systems in order to build collective patient power and make it possible for patients to join our organizing work. Your support will help fund our work this year to facilitate community organizing and leadership development trainings, base-building and broadening our outreach, expanding our leadership to better represent the communities and populations most affected, and establishing ourselves as an advocacy organization."

Can you share a story of one of the leaders in your organization and how they’ve made a difference in their community?

"One of our core team members, Sarah Minion, brought together a group of volunteers who created, designed, edited, and distributed our zine, Opening Up. Opening Up is an 80-page printed zine that includes art, poetry, and stories compiled from more than 50 contributors who submitted their stories about living with chronic vulvovaginal and pelvic pain. Together, Sarah and our volunteer team, distributed over 700 copies to medical providers’ offices, college campuses, and individuals with these conditions and organized a virtual community-building event with over 115 participants. Sharing these stories is destigmatizing vulvovaginal pain and making it possible for people with these conditions to open up, speak out, and build collective patient power."
